Children, their families and the staff of Kowhai Childacare got together on an overcast saturday in august and planted their new native plant grove.
The area, designed by Clare Jackson of Green Footprint, uses ecosourced natives such as manatu (Plagianthus regius) kowhai (Sophora microphylla), putaputaweta (Carpodetus serratus) and kanuka (Kunzea ericoides) to create a grove for children to explore and learn in.The ecosourced plants were supplied by Forest Flora (www.forestflora.co.nz) and selected for their ability to succeed on a bare site.
